Blog #1: My Musical Culture

  Hey ya’ll, my name is Emorie Thrasher. Welcome to my musical blog where I will be connecting music through my life and all around me. At a young age, at about 9 years old, I started to really get into music and the beautiful complexity of the instruments that made sounds to compose music. Most of my family members were either playing an instrument, signing, or dancing, while I was off playing sports. As I was approaching the age of 10, I was introduced to the cello, and from there my life changed.  When middle school came around, I auditioned for School of the Arts in Charleston, South Carolina. I had been playing for about a year and understood very little of my instrument. I had minimal experience with music, and tried very hard to understand all types of instruments. Eventually over time, and practice, I grew with my cello and the music I was playing. After about 9th Grade, I switched schools and stopped playing the cello.
